The San Pedro Region, in particular, offers basic necessities such as food, shelter, utilities, clothing, transportation, case management, and community resource links for homeless and low-income households.
This region oversees two homeless shelters--one for families, pregnant women, the disabled, and the elderly, and another Bridge Housing shelter for single adults.
It also manages three community centers, two of which function as food pantries.
The Client Services Regional Coordinators play a vital role in bridging the gaps in services provided through the Los Angeles Regional Coordinated Entry System.
They offer supportive services to families with children experiencing homelessness, focusing particularly on individuals who require intensive case management to navigate the homeless system.
The San Pedro Region is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Prevention & Eviction Specialist Case Manager to join the Client Services Regional Coordinators team.
This team plays a vital role in bridging service gaps for families experiencing homelessness, particularly those requiring intensive case management to navigate the homelessness system.
Responsibilities:
Identify individuals and families at imminent risk of homelessness Provide intensive case management services Assist clients with managing rental arrears to prevent eviction Advocate on behalf of clients in matters related to housing stabilization and landlord disputes Coordinate with legal advocacy teams in situations involving eviction hearings and notices Assist clients in the search and placement of new housing Provide income stabilization services Assist clients with application and management of Financial Assistance, including but not limited to Security Deposits, Rental Assistance, Utilities Assistance, and Transportation Expenses Required Skills:
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with multicultural ethnic groups like African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics.
They must possess knowledge and experience in working with homeless individuals and be familiar with the McKinney-Vento Act.
Other prerequisites include proficiency in written and oral communication, computer skills--specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Clarity, and HMIS--and an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
They should also be comfortable working with clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses and substance abuse disorders.
Must have knowledge of Problem Solving and Diversion techniques.
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Three to five years of related experience.
Must have a valid driver's license & reliable transportation.
