Summary:
The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching carriers (LMC's, employee Drivers, and/or other outside carriers) and ensure that data is timely & accurately entered into company's TMS.
Maintain communication with Dispatch and CSR teams to verify and resolve customer and/or shipper customer service issues.
Monitor containers to avoid per diem by ensuring that all equipment is returned to the port accordingly to minimize any loss of revenue.
Duties/
Responsibilities:
Work with the LA and Long Beach Ports to make appointments for container pick-ups and delivery.
Routing and monitoring drivers.
Communicate with customers, potential customers, owner-operators, and core carrier.
Monitor the location of the fleet using system tracking or calling drivers for check calls.
Manage equipment, including chassis and containers.
Collaborating with management to modify activities to accommodate customer needs.
Maintain proper records and ensure information is executed correctly and on time.
Communicate/update Manager/CSR's on daily progress, challenges, changes, issues, and all other matters; to include, daily/shift turn over; sending daily rollover/recap report.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
