Analytical Services Career Opportunities This position will focus on performing market studies for the client base that is supported by our Long Beach office in order to determine optimal dealer network solutions. Urban Science MarketSmarts software and Dealer Network Analysis Process (DNAP) will be used to determine the most advantageous location, number, and performance for the client's dealers. The individual in this role would be required to leverage his or her technical skills to independently execute these high quality solutions for our client.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct reactive market studies to determine optimal network performance within a local market area, based on existing networks and/or green field opportunities.
Perform national market studies to determine optimal networks based on location, number and performance of dealers.
Use Urban Science MarketSmarts software and the Dealer Network Analysis Process (DNAP) to analyze data from the following sources: vehicle registrations, demographics, unemployment rates, economic information, etc.
Provide general help desk support; including but not limited to answering questions regarding registration data, geography, maps, reports, and Microsoft products (Excel, Access, Word).
Provide general staffing support including but not limited to creating general business reports, presentations, etc. as customer market representation department management may request.
Plan, organize, develop and deliver client-requested projects and ad hoc requests within in prescribed time schedule. The client-requested projects and requests will be used to enhance dealer retail network solutions.
Use SQL Server to extract and manipulate data by writing queries, joining data sources, etc.
Track, process, analyze and verify data using Microsoft products.
Adhere to quality control standards for Urban Science and the client.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Needs to have a fundamental understanding of database concepts in order to complete client requests that fall outside of MarketSmarts capabilities, which require gathering and manipulating data manually from multiple databases.
Needs to have a fundamental understanding of MS Excel for charting and graphing of data, writing formulas within cells, and/or filtering, sorting, and formatting data.
Ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple concurrent tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to collaborate with other team members and have dedication to meeting and exceeding their expectations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
College level math skills and solid mathematical grounding required.
Skills to execute simple statistical analysis software programs and create scatter plots, bar charts and histograms.
Knowledge of basic descriptive statistics.
Knowledge of relational database fundamentals, including creating and executing queries, creating scripts, importing/exporting data, and manipulating data.
Strong commitment to the Urban Science Mission to provide state-of the art solutions to our customers' problems worldwide, utilizing scientific problem solving tools and computer technology driven by real-world experiences.
Oral communication skills necessary to express ideas clearly to individuals and groups, including clients.
Written communication skills necessary to effectively communicate ideas in a clear, concise manner at a level appropriate for the audience.
Ability to analyze problems and identify alternative solutions, applying appropriate Urban Science methodology.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must possess a combination of education and experience as follows:
Must hold a baccalaureate degree in engineering, applied math, statistics, computer science, applied science, MIS, GIS or other technical degree, from an accredited U.S. college, university or equivalent foreign institution. May accept a business degree or other non-technical degree with demonstrated analytical and mathematical problem solving skills.
Other technical degrees may be considered if complemented by demonstrated interest and ability to apply scientific knowledge to solve practical business problems and proficiency in quantitative analysis.
Technical skills necessary to support Urban Science systems.
Microsoft Word, Access and Excel skills required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Urban Science certification of Apprentice in one practice area is preferred if applying internally

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
