Supervisory Medical Support Assistant

The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model reviewing the clinic utilization by using various reports, ensure that the clinic setup is closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the clinics, and make any necessary adjustments. Additional duties as follow:
Receives and triages consults, schedules initial and follow-up appointments, and tracks consults for serviced disciplines. Coordinates appointments for patients with other medical services, including emergency add-on's and same day appointments. Ensures all necessary medical data (x-ray and lab reports, admit orders, etc.) is available to clinicians prior to patients' arrival and assists with keeping program staff appraised of patient census and any changes/problems that might be encountered. Evaluates the work of subordinate staff; resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met; evaluating new products, equipment, and systems to make recommendations for improved operations. Oversees patient procedures from the time the exam/procedure is ordered until the patient is scheduled for the high volume, and very complex modalities of Radiology Service, e.g. Interventional Radiology, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy exams. Coordinates transportation as required for patients; coordinates with Anesthesia for required services, and coordinates with outside Medical Centers/Facilities to obtain patient scans on CD's and original radiologist reports to update VA automated patient records system. Makes final decisions on hiring selections; evaluating performance and taking disciplinary action when necessary. Ensures accurate and timely collection of patient information and demographics pertaining to scheduling/rescheduling, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, enrollment, eligibility and means testing processes. Extracts and analyzes data to provide reports to senior management in support of tracking measures. Schedule:

Six months experience of clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; or (2) Education:
One year above high school; or (3) Experience/Education combination:
Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. Certification:

Experience:
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level leading or supervising Medical Support Assistants or equivalent patient administrative support staff in a non-VA medical inpatient, outpatient, or interdisciplinary setting. In addition, you must have experience which demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
1. Ability to provide the full range of administrative and supervisory duties to at least one subordinate MSA supervisor or team leader in a patient support setting which includes assignment of work, performance evaluations, selection of staff, and recommendation of awards and/or advancements. 2. Ability to collaborate, communicate, and demonstrate customer service and interpersonal skills with internal and external customers to ensure quality/continuity of care and ensure compliance with established policies and regulations. 3. Ability to provide briefings, orientations, staff development, and training. 4. Ability to manage fiscal matters, forecast resource and equipment needs, and identify budget needs. References:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
